Synopsis
In the Beautiful town of Cape May, New Jersey , a tragic car accident destroys the hope of one man. Carter (Patrick Judd), a song writing major in college, returns to his home in Cape May to bury his mother who was killed in a hit and run driving accident. When Carter returns home, he is welcomed by his devastated father and long time friends. he is also faced with the challenges of the past that he once left behind. During his time home, Carter is reintroduced to his friends Amber, Sean and Charlie. All have known each other for years but when Carter left, he lost all contact with them. During his time home his friends tell him that they have felt abandoned and not welcomed into Carters life. During his mothers funeral Carter notices a girl attending the service and is very unsure of who she is and why she is there. One evening after the funeral, Carter along with his friends are drinking in a near by Parking lot. Carter talks about the girl but none of his friends can put a picture to the name. During their get together, they are pulled over by state police and accused of driving while under the influence. During the stop, everyone is asked to take a road test. As the boys are taking the road test, Carter notices the girl from the funeral taking orders in a restaurant across the street. Carter takes the initiative to walk over to the girl during the stop. The officer is left to believe that Carter is hiding something from him and arrests him but not before Carter is able to talk to the girl. Who is later introduced as Emily (Megan Brady) Carter and Emily begin to spend more and more time together as the days go on. However, during the time together, Carter and Emily are troubled by each others pasts that they hold back.
